Born in 1984 in Kumamoto Prefecture, He is a Graduated of Hosei University and Waseda University, School of Global Information and Telecommunication Studies and also studied at Boston University. He directed his first dramatic feature-length “Our Night is Not Long” in 2012, it received a theatrical release in 2012 and was also screened to acclaim at the 2012 Tokyo International Film Festival. Director and post master of “Akasaki Wednesday Post Office”, It is an art project to exchange personal stories with others on Wednesdays. This project won the Good Design Award for 2014. It has become a topic of conversation here in Japan. His latest feature-length film “Magic Utopia” (co-directed with Shuichi Tan) won a Special Judges Award at the Anchorage International Film Festival in 2015. A general release for the film is being planned for Spring2016. Toyama also wrote the entire screenplay for the production. While energetically working on making films, he is now also making plans to work in stage and exhibition art productions.
