jury members2017 ABIR HASHEM Resume × ABIR HASHEM PRODUCER Abir Hashem started her studies in law, but found her footing in the film industry and over the years had gained experience working with several filmmakers; this was the head start for her experience in the creative documentary filmmaking. Abir worked as assistant, executive producer and producer on documentaries, corporate videos and commercials as well as short films. Abir had participated in Docmed for a yearlong training program on creative documentaries for Arab producers with her film “Asphalt”. This workshop gave her the ability to give mentor classes at the institute for media training and research at LAU (Lebanese American university), where she trained Iraqi journalists on funding strategies for independent documentaries in the Arab world.On another level, Abir acted as the managing director of DocuDays ‘Beirut International Documentary Film Festival for 5 years. Beside that, Abir was selected as jury member for international films at Tampere short film festival in Finland 2017. Currently, Abir is producing her independent films besides providing production services for international production houses. Andrzej Bednarek Resume × Andrzej Bednarek Andrzej Bednarek Professor, PhD, Professor at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School (PWSFTviT ) Lodz, Poland, visiting professor at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, UK.Filmmaker, former vice-rector ( deputy head) of PWSFTviT. He pursued film studies / directing department, 1969-1974/ then went on to work in feature film, documentary film studio and public Polish television. He has directed 25 documentary films and 5 theatre plays for television.Former director of International Student Film festival “Mediaschool”-Lodz,Poland. In previous years he took part in numerous juries at international film festivals in Tehran, Hong Kong, , Beijing, Bucharest, Rome, Istanbul, Drama, Tel Aviv, Taipei etc. External examiner at HPAPA Hong Kong, 2013 –Hong Kong Arts Development Council -expert. Since 1974 he is still teaching at the Directing Department and the Producing Department at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School Lodz. Gipsy Yuk-mui CHANG Resume × Gipsy Yuk-mui CHANG Gipsy Yuk-mui CHANG Lecturer-In-Charge, Editing and Post Production, School of Film and Television, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Gipsy studied filmmaking in Hong Kong and England. She worked as editor for local and foreign productions for years. In 1996, she was appointed as Lecturer of Film Editing in HKAPA. She is now In-Charge of the Post Production. Her extensive teaching experience includes editing, documentary, short film production and is one of the artistic supervisors for students’ graduation films. Gipsy also actively participates in local film circle. She is the Executive member of Association of Motion Picture Post Production Professionals (AMP4). In last few years, she has been invited as Editing Advisor for many fiction and documentary films. Furthermore, she was jury member for many film festivals worldwide including France, Poland, Iran, Taiwan and China, etc. Mehdi Karam Pour Resume × Mehdi Karam Pour Peter Murdmaa Resume × Peter Murdmaa Peter Murdmaa a broad-profile filmmaker. Born December 1, 1974, Peter’s journey in the world of film started at an early age when he was actively engaged in photography and camera work. Peter has graduated in cinematography and in film production in Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School of Tallinn University. He has participated in making documentaries as a cinematographer as well a director, also produced short films in fiction. Peter Murdmaa has organized several movie events, being an active participant in the development of the Estonian film landscape. In 2013, Peter Murdmaa was the organizer and director of Sleepwalkers, the international short film festival, which heightened his commitment in further developing the field of short films. In 2014 he founded ShortEst Estonian Short Film Center that has goal to introduce audiovisual short forms into Estonia and Estonian shorts to the rest of the world. Peter’s mission is to bring the audiovisual short form to the big screen in as many ways possible. Movies are a form of art with their means of expression and language no matter how long they may be and all deserve to be seen on a big screen, he believes.
